5. Mallrats    spl_boxart

One of Kevin Smith’s best movies of all time, it introduces a couple of great actors include movies including; Jason Lee and Ben Affleck. The story takes place in a New Jersey Mall where the main character gets dumped and to change his mood, his best friend (who also gets dumped) decides to go to the mall to stop their pain. Only there, do they find out that their ex girlfriends are being courted by different people and they stop at nothing to overcome this conflict and win their girlfriends back, all the while cracking jokes and making loitering popular.

4. Office Space  office_space

This movie was lesser known to the mass audience, but has had quite a following after its release. The movie is amazing because of it’s characters that truly depict the american worker in a cubical office building. Every character seems to hate their job just like in real life and the lines in the movie are very memorable. For instance, the scene when they take the copier/printer to the field to beat the shit out of is one of the best scenes in any movie of all time. Some of the lines are amazing like, “Hey David, Check out the Breast Exam on Channel 9!” and “Oh, Oh, Oh!” and of course “Red Stapler”. This movie has it all for anyone who has ever worked in a shitty job and wanted to stick it to the bosses.

3. Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas nightmare_before_christmas_ver1

I had to include this movie on the list, mainly because of the newly created animation that tim burton uses to his advantage while filming this movie. Plus, this movie is easily the best dark animated movie of all time. The storyline is amazing as the audience follows the main character Jack through Halloween town and his quest to change to christmas instead of halloween for the holiday. He makes the entire halloween world go into the project, only to realize later that this is ruining christmas, so he free’s Santa who was kidnapped earlier, to save Christmas. This movie is a great kids movie and it has a deeper adult meaning behind the story that is entertaining to everyone.

2. Clerks  Clerks

This movie was the debut movie for Kevin Smith who created an entire following to nerd/stoner based movies that young people really feel in tune with. The movie is about an underachieving Clerk “Dante” who is called into work on a saturday morning at a quick stop store and get’s stuck there the entire day, while many wild things happen to him. All the while Dante is conflicted between his current girlfriend and his exgirlfriend and which one he wants to be with. The characters Randall and Jay and Silent Bob make this movie an instant classic to be watched over and over again.

1. Fight Club  01_Fight_Club

Why wouldn’t I have this movie at the top of my list? It has everything a person could ask for, suspense, action, comedy, and love. The ending is the best ending in any movie hands down, just think if you found out that your best friend was actually an imaginary one that you created almost a year ago, wouldn’t that just fuck with your head? I know it would with mine. Also, the actors are amazing, Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are amazing.
